When Should I Book My Red Deer Newborn Photographer? | YOUR Red Deer Newborn Photography Guide
When should I book my Red Deer Newborn Photographer?
One of the most common questions I hear from expecting parents is, “When should I book my newborn session?” The short answer? The sooner, the better!
As a Red Deer newborn photographer, I recommend booking your newborn session during your second trimester or early in your third trimester. This ensures a spot is reserved on my calendar around your baby’s due date, giving us the flexibility to schedule your session once your little one arrives.
Why book before baby arrives?
Newborn photography sessions are typically held within the first two weeks after birth. During this time, babies are often sleepier, curl up naturally into those sweet newborn poses, and are usually more comfortable being gently settled during the session.
Because babies rarely arrive exactly on their due date, I don’t book your session for a specific day months in advance. Instead, I reserve space around your due date and then finalize your session date once your baby is here.
What Should I Bring?
The beauty of booking a newborn session with me is that I’ve taken care of most of the details for you.
My cozy studio just outside of Red Deer is fully stocked with carefully selected wraps, blankets, headbands, bonnets, and newborn accessories in soft, timeless tones. Families also have access to my client closet, making styling simple and stress free.
All you need to bring is your baby, diapers, bottles if needed, and a willingness to slow down and soak in these precious moments.
What if baby is already born?
Don’t worry! It’s never too late to reach out.
While the first two weeks are often ideal for posed newborn photography, beautiful newborn images can be captured at any age. Babies who are a little older are often more alert, making it possible to document sweet eye contact, stretches, and early expressions that parents love to remember.
If your baby has already arrived, contact me as soon as possible and I’ll do my best to accommodate your family.
When is the best age for Newborn photos?
Every photographer has a slightly different approach, but most newborn sessions take place between 5 and 14 days old.
At this age, babies:
- Sleep more soundly
- Are naturally curled from their time in the womb
- Tend to settle more easily during posing
- Have not yet become as aware of their surroundings
That said, every baby is unique, and I always follow your little one’s lead throughout the session.
Capturing photos you’ll never want to forget.
The newborn stage passes incredibly quickly. Tiny fingers, sleepy yawns, fuzzy shoulders, and the way your baby fits perfectly in your arms will change before you know it.
Booking your newborn session before your baby arrives allows us to preserve these fleeting details and create meaningful images your family will treasure for generations.
If you’re expecting and looking for a Red Deer newborn photographer, I’d love to help you celebrate this exciting chapter. Reach out early to reserve your due date and ensure we have time to create a beautiful, relaxed experience for your growing family.
The Details
When you look back on these images years from now, I want you to remember more than just how everyone looked. I want you to remember how it felt. The tiny newborn stretches, the way your baby fit perfectly in your arms, and the genuine connections that make your family unique. My goal is to create a relaxed, stress free experience so you can simply enjoy this season of life while I preserve it for you.
